This week our friends over at HeadBox are giving us some ideas for summer parties. All we can say is bring on the sun!
Summer is still a while away, and in our opinion it can’t come quick enough. We’re yearning for those balmy summer nights, where we can kick off our shoes and watch the setting sun. But in the meantime, we don’t have to sit idle waiting for the winter to pass. We are casting our minds forward and getting ready for a summer filled with fantastic events, brilliant people and exciting Spaces. So to get you enthused for the summer ahead, we’ve compiled our favourite boat party venues to hire in London! From Thames cruises to canal boat hire, we’ve gathered our top nautical spaces so hop aboard and let’s get started.
To kick things off, take a look at the Battersea Barge. Formerly a 1930s grain barge, this space now functions as a permanently docked pub and performance space. The stage on the lower deck gives off a Parisian cabaret vibe so it’s no surprise that this charming boat hosted the first ever London Cabaret Awards. Up on deck you can look out over the Thames surrounded by fairy lights as the sun sets behind the skyline. Now THAT is a magical party venue!
For something a little more up market, try the Bateaux London. This gorgeous boat is Scandinavian in style and boasts a staggering 250 metres square of open deck space – the largest open deck space on the River Thames! The interior is sleek and stylish, and has a capacity of over 100 guests. On the top deck there is even a faux-lawn, giving the illusion of a floating field. For a Thames river cruise with style, you can’t go wrong with the Bateaux.
A converted 1930s Dutch Barge, Tamesis is now a floating pub, permanently moored between Lambeth and Vauxhall Bridge. It boasts some rather stunning views of some of London’s grandest landmarks and has solidified a reputation as a staple music venue. Over time, the boat has seen some amazing musicians perform within its walls including Bastille, Adam Gardner and Local Natives. So if you’re looking to throw a London boat party with a live band, this is the venue for you.
London Shell Company aboard the Prince Regent
If you’re looking for something to tickle your tastebuds, then look no further than the London Shell Company. This floating restaurant sets sail on the newly refurbished Prince Regal canal boat. With a seafood theme, it has a mouth watering menu of seasonal-inspired dishes, bespoke cocktails and perfectly-paired wines. Their commitment to locally and ethically sourced ingredients as well as their use of traditional preparation and cooking methods bodes well for the environmentally-conscious foodie.
This staple of the London comedy scene makes for a fantastic boat party venue. Steamer’s is a creative space on board Tattershall Castle, with fantastic vistas of London’s best sights. Decked out with excellent audio equipment, this space has played host to the likes of James Corden, Michael McIntyre and Eddie Izzard. Well known comics frequent this floating comedy venue to perform secret under-the-radar sets. So if you need a space with plenty of character and an air of secrecy, give Steamer’s a try.
So there it is, our top 5 party boats to hire in London. London is a veritable hub of cultural diversity and the boats of its rivers and canals mirror its variety. With so many inspiring London venues to hire, it can be hard to know where to begin.
With HeadBox you can search, book and pay for fantastic venues all in one place online.
